Self-protection is the set of measures (procedures, systems and organization) implemented in a given area (buildings, facilities, inhabited areas, plots, activities, centers, etc.) exposed to one or more risk situations, intended to prevent , prevent and control the risk, respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure the integration of these actions into those of the public system.

The reference regulation is Decree 30/2015, of 3 March, which approves the catalog of activities and centers required to adopt self-protection measures and sets the content of these measures.

The aim of the decree is to regulate actions aimed at ensuring the application of self-protection measures to companies and, in general, to entities and bodies that carry out activities that can generate situations of serious collective risk, of catastrophe or public calamity, and also in centers and facilities and their dependencies, public and private, which may be particularly severely affected by situations of this nature.

Therefore, not only certain centers are required to have a Self-Protection Plan, but also some activities, whether fairs, sports races, concerts …
